KHALAVHA PAYS TRIBUTE TO HONOURABLE ROGERS TSHIVHASE THROUGH SPORT AND UNITY

The annual Rogers Tshivhase Soccer Tournament was successfully hosted at the Jack Lavhengwa Sports Ground in Khalavha, bringing together community members, football enthusiasts, and local leaders in a meaningful celebration of the life and legacy of Honourable Rogers Tshivhase. The tournament serves as a tribute to a man widely respected for his hard work, humility, leadership, and lasting contribution to both Khalavha Village and the greater Vhembe region.

This year’s tournament featured four highly competitive teams: MCT Napoli FC, Tshivhilidulu Hungry Lions FC, Fondwe Mighty Blues FC, and Mandala Young Vultures FC. With a prize pool of R10,000 awarded to the champions, R5,000 to the runners-up, and R1,000 each for the third and fourth-placed teams, the competition provided both excitement and meaningful recognition for participating clubs.

From the early morning kick-off, the atmosphere was vibrant and energetic as supporters gathered to celebrate not only the spirit of football but also the values of discipline, perseverance, and community that Honourable Rogers Tshivhase embodied. Throughout the tournament, each team demonstrated exceptional determination, sportsmanship, and talent, making the event a true reflection of unity and community pride.

MCT Napoli FC emerged as the tournament champions after delivering outstanding performances marked by teamwork, resilience, and commitment. Their victory was a proud achievement for the club and a moment of celebration for the wider Khalavha community.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Member of Parliament Mr Donald Selamolela, who joined VhaMusanda Vho Miriiavhavha during the prize-giving ceremony. Their attendance underscored the importance of community-driven initiatives that use sport as a platform for youth development, social cohesion, and positive engagement.

More than a sporting competition, the Rogers Tshivhase Soccer Tournament continues to serve as a lasting tribute to a remarkable leader whose values continue to inspire future generations. Through football, the community keeps his legacy alive, encourages young talent, and strengthens the bonds that unite the people of Khalavha year after year.

The tournament remains a powerful symbol of remembrance, unity, and community empowerment, demonstrating how sport can bring people together while honouring those who have made a meaningful impact on society.
